MIAD Cube
HAND RENDERED TYPE, BRAND CONCEPT, ILLUSTRATION
2023
This project goal was to redesign the original MIAD logo changing themes and typography. Working with my classmates the final product was a combination of the redesigned logos mashed together for a mock MIAD marketing campaign. The reasoning behind the artistic direction was to match the theme of the season. The project was taking place during the fall/ Halloween timeframe. Therefore, I chose to create a fun spooky MIAD grunge monster hoping that was designed to grab attention of the viewer.
Inspiration
Below are inspirations I used for the project. The first inspiration is My Singing Monster design named Noggin. The second character design is from One Piece his name is Gaimon. Lasty the image with many monsters in a muted color palette was the chaotic muti monster feeling I was going for.
Sketch
The next step was using the isometric cube shape given to us and begin to start sketch. I didn’t make any draft sketches with this character. My goal was to make it chaotic and have fun and see where it went.
Digital
After the sketch was done and inked up, I rasterized the sketch in illustrator and began to color the design. We were limited to the four MIAD colors however we were aloud accents to be any color we wanted. So, I chose the arm feet and tentacles to be an olive green.
Final
After completing my MIAD monster, we were tasked to incorporate with other cubes. When all the cubes were combined, we used the image to create a poster, and digital advertisement that could be hypothetically used. This was a unique project because I had not previously worked with other people’s assets before, especially on such a large scale.
