World's Best Posters
PORTFOLIO PRACTICE, MARKETING
2024

The objective of this project was to design three distinct poster advertisements for a product operating in a highly competitive visual landscape. My focus was on creating posters that would stand out, capturing consumers’ attention, while simultaneously making the product appealing. The brand and product selection were left to my discretion.
Inspiration
The product I chose was World’s Best kitty litter. Since I have cats, and they use this brand, I thought it would be fun to see what I could do to promote the product. But when buying things in a pet store the shelves are often overwhelming with multiple products. So, this one needed to stand out. To tackle this goal, I first found related ads for the product, to get an understanding of their online digital presentation. I actually really liked what they had online so I decided to use the ideas and incorporate them into posters keeping the brand identity in mind.
Brainstorm posters
After getting inspiration from older examples of Worlds Best ads. I did some brainstorming sketches to see what direction I wanted to go. I went with the rough sketch in the bottom left corner of the page.
Sketchs
I knew I wanted to push the cat theme a bit more with my ads compared to the official versions seen above. So, I made some sketches of a font face I made called playful cats. Each letter of the alphabet was created to be a single cat in a playful position.
Final
When I was beginning to build my posters in Illustrator, I found the original color palate I had selected not fitting the proper theme for the poster color pallet. So, I changed the color of the font to yellow and two shades of orange to create a contrast to the background colors. Keeping my font separate but also highlighting the product on the right side of the poster. Below are the three posters mocked up in the busy pet store environment.
Digital
After digitizing the alphabet in Illustrator I then placed each letter in its proper order Now I was ready to add the font for my poster.
